Bohemian Splendour - Victorian 800 Silver Gold Gilt Garnet & Pearl Cluster Ring . This stunning ring is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 800. Featuring one natural oval faceted garnet, 10 natural round rose cut garnets, 10 genuine pearls, and Victorian era styling.  The wonderful galley is expertly claw -set with beautiful rich red wine Bohemian garnets in the form of an oval shaped cluster.  The pearls are lustrous, displaying a beautiful silvery grey color. The shoulders are designed as an attractive spilt open-worked design, leading down to a polished smooth shank, which allows for comfort and easy sizing. There are traces of the original gilt gold throughout this ring. This Victorian era ring looks stunning when worn, truly a beautiful elegant pice for any collection.

The history of garnet dates back to the Bronze Age, more than 5000 years ago. ... Its name, which has been used since these ancient times, was derived from the Latin word granatium, which means pomegranate (because the small, red crystals were thought to resemble pomegranate seeds).

The word “Bohemian” derives from the region of Bohemia, a kingdom which later became Czechoslovakia. Among other flourishing trades, this region produced gorgeous, deep red garnet gemstones and a style of jewelry that quickly became popular in the late Victorian Era and through the turn of the century.

Silver Mining in History. The story of silver mining began about 5,000 years ago. Silver was first mined around 3,000 BCE in Anatolia, now located in modern-day Turkey. The precious metal helped early civilizations in the Near East, Ancient Greece to flourish.

In the history of the United Kingdom and the British Empire, the Victorian era was the period of Queen Victoria's reign, from 20 June 1837 until her death on 22 January 1901. Slightly different definitions are sometimes used.
