The morganite was first discovered in Madagascar in 1911 and was initially called "Pink Beryl". However, the famous gemmologist George Frederick Kunz renamed it "Morganite" in honour of his patron, New York banker and philanthropist John Pierpont Morgan.
he Ancient Greeks discovered white sapphire on the island of Naxos and associated it with Apollo, god of light and sun. Since Apollo was also the god of prophecies, according to legend white Sapphires were offered as a gift to Pythia the priestess of prophecies.
Rose gold was first used in early 19th century Russia by the famed jeweler Carl Faberge in his infamous Faberge Eggs, as was known as Russian Gold. Rose gold later gained popularity in the United Stated during the lavish and feminine 1920's, and was worn in engagement rings and fine jewelry.
