Celestial Halo - Estate 14K Rose Gold Australian Blue/Violet Fire Opal & Diamond Cluster Ring.  This gorgeous ring is hand-crafted from 14K rose gold, hallmarked 14K. Featuring a natural oval cut Australian cabochon opal, 20 natural round brilliant diamonds, and classic styling, and a high quality custom made ring. This ring boasts a beautiful blue/violet  fire opal, displaying flashes of pink and orange. The opal was taken out of a very well loved British Victorian ring and now adorns this wonderful custom-made one of a kind ring. The opal has a diamond surround, which off-sets the opal beautifully. The diamonds are clear bright , white and so sparkly. The shoulders have a slight taper, and the shank is dainty, however solid and substantial. The shank is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit, and easy sizing. This Estate ring is simply stunning, truly a perfect unique ring for any fine jewelry collection.

Note: Appraisal; included with the ring. Beautiful hand-made high quality ring. Stunning blue/violet opal Australian opal.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Many cultures have credited opal with supernatural origins and powers. Arabic legends say it falls from the heavens in flashes of lightning. The ancient Greeks believed opals gave their owners the gift of prophecy and guarded them from disease. Europeans have long considered the gem a symbol of hope, purity, and truth.

The first discovery of opals in Australia was made near Angaston (SA) by the German geologist Johannes Menge in 1849. Both the Queensland Boulder Opal and Lightning Ridge fields attracted miners in the 1880's.

Rose gold was first used in early 19th century Russia by the famed jeweler Carl Faberge in his infamous Faberge Eggs, as was known as Russian Gold. Rose gold later gained popularity in the United Stated during the lavish and feminine 1920's, and was worn in engagement rings and fine jewelry.

Measurements: Face of the ring 18.00 mm x 16.00 mm

Condition: Excellent   Note: Opal is over 100 years old so it has some faint scratches to the side of the opal, which can be seen only under magnification, otherwise not noticeable. This is common and acceptable in antique gemstones. These scratches could be polished out, however I did not want to erase the history of time, since they do not interfere with the beauty of the opal.
