Cerise - Vintage Gold Plated Crystal Rhinestone Aurora Borealis Brooch. This pretty brooch is crafted from gold over metal. The brooch features numerous marquise shaped faceted crystal rhinestones, one round cut faceted aurora borealis crystal, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. This lovely brooch is made in the form of a flower. The gold frame is expertly hand-set with beautiful cerise pink crystals, which form the petals of the flower. The centre crystal is a beautiful aurora borealis crystal, displaying a variation of colors ranging from green, violet, orange, blue, and yellow. History: Origins. Originally, rhinestones were rock crystals gathered from the river Rhine, hence the name, although some were also found in areas like the Alps (the source of the Rhine). Today the name "rhinestone" applies only to varieties of lead glass known as crystal glass.
