Claret - Medieval 15th -17th Century Bronze Red Glass Solitaire Ring. This wonderful ring is crafted from bronze.  Featuring an oval red glass cabochon,  Medieval styling,  and quality craftsmanship. The beautiful ring boasts a bezel set hand- polished glass cabochon, which displays a red wine colour, simulating a garnet gemstone (a characteristic seen in early jewelry). The bezel is solid, and the gallery has a closed back, which is comfortable to wear, and protects the gemstone.  The ring has been hand polished, which allows the original patina to shine. The band is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit.  The Medieval/Renaissance era ring looks wonderful on the hand, a true beauty!

Middle Ages, the period in European history from the collapse of Roman civilization in the 5th century ce to the period of the Renaissance (variously interpreted as beginning in the 13th, 14th, or 15th century, depending on the region of Europe and other factors).

The Renaissance was a fervent period of European cultural, artistic, political and economic “rebirth” following the Middle Ages. Generally described as taking place from the 14th century to the 17th century, the Renaissance promoted the rediscovery of classical philosophy, literature and art.

Glass beads were first created about 3,500 years ago in Egypt and Mesopotamia, and ever since glass bead designs and bead-making techniques grew increasingly complex. The ancient glassmakers were initially making glass from just three simple components - sand quartz, soda ash and limestone.

The Bronze Age, which extended from around 3000 B.C.E to 1200 B.C.E., is named after the first alloy to ever be created, the metal that characterized an era – bronze. No one knowns exactly where it was created, but the general consensus is that bronze originated in Mesopotamia (present day Iraq).

It arose following the Chalcolithic period, in which early metals of copper and gold were crafted, as well as the first alloys of copper and tin, from which bronze is derived. The first bronze pieces produced were predominantly used for arms and jewelry, gold was featured as a prized material.
