Clusters Of Colour - Estate Sterling Silver Opal Daisy Flower Dangly Earrings. These lovely earrings are crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 925 for sterling silver. These earrings feature 18 round cut opal cabochons (lab created), two pear shaped cabochon opals (lab created) Edwardian Revival styling, and quality craftsmanship. These pretty earrings are for pierced ears, featuring easy to use shepherd hook backings. The surmount exhibits an expertly bezel set white opal, displaying an array of colours in different light intensities, which has beautiful opal surround, in the form of a daisy flower. The dangle is articulated in such a way that allows the earrings to have movement, and sway. An opal pear/tear-drop dangle adds detail and colour to these exquisite earrings. History: Opals began to be synthesized, i.e. artificial opals were made in a laboratory. Since 1970, synthesized opals have appeared on the stone market. The most interesting thing is that these opals have the same chemical composition as natural opals.

The first evidence of silver mining dates back to 3000 B.C., in Turkey and Greece, according to the RSC. Ancient people even figured out how to refine silver. They heated the silver ore and blew air over it, a process called cupellation.

The sterling alloy originated in continental Europe and was being used for commerce as early as the 12th century in the area that is now northern Germany. A piece of sterling silver dating from Henry II's reign was used as a standard in the Trial of the Pyx until it was deposited at the Royal Mint in 1843.
