Antique Rarity - Victorian 10K Gold Natural Chrysoberyl Engraved Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from 10K yellow gold, hallmarked 10K.  Featuring a genuine natural round-cut faceted chrysoberyl, Victorian styling and quality gold-work. The beautiful gem is not often seen in jewelry of today. This particular chrysoberyl displays a beautiful earthy yellowish/green colour, which is set in a coronet gallery.  The shoulders are a cathedral design, with a slight taper, and beautiful engraved detail.  The shank is plain and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. This precious Victorian ring would make a unique engagement ring or gift.

Note: Contemporary appraisals do not reflect the antique value.

History: The name chrysoberyl comes from the Greek words chrysos, meaning golden, and beryllos, which refers to its beryllium content. Chrysoberyl has been a prized stone for thousands of years in Asia, as it is believed to provide the wearer with protection from the evil eye.

When Was Gold First Discovered? Dating back more than 5,000 years, when gold was first discovered – albeit usually in small quantities – attracted the eye of early man nearly everywhere. And unlike most metals, gold often appears in nature in its pure form so it need not be refined.
