Deco Vibrance - Art Deco 14K White Gold Sapphire & Diamond Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from 14K white gold, hallmarked 14K.  Featuring a natural round cut Ceylon sapphire, 14 natural single cut diamonds. Art Deco styling, and quality gold-work.  The expertly claw set sapphire displays the most beautiful vibrant blue colour, with a violet hue.  The precious gemstone is flanked by a sparkling diamond on each side. The central portion of the gallery has a white gold surround adorned by even more sparkling diamonds. Comments: Sri Lanka, known as Ceylon prior to 1972, is the origin of the oldest sapphire mines in the world. According to historical accounts, Ceylon was already known for sapphires by the 2nd century A.D. and there was an active international's trade in Ceylon gems by the 4th and 5th century. 

Historically, the most famous sources for blue sapphire are Burma, Kashmir and Sri Lanka (Ceylon).  Ceylon sapphire has been valued for its vivid colour , that tends towards a lighter and brighter blue than the dark blue sapphires from Australia and Thailand.
