Ember Light - Vintage Sterling Silver Crystal Cluster Ring. This lovely ring is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked STER for sterling silver. The ring features one oval cut faceted crystal Rhinestone, 14 round cut faceted crystal gemstones, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. This pretty ring is comprised of an expertly claw-set red wine garnet coloured crystal, surrounded by sparkling clear crystals. The shoulders feature a triple split design, and a smooth shank, which allows for a comfortable fit , and easy sizing.  This vintage ring would make a perfect addition to any jewelry collection.

History: The term Rhinestone was given to the little sparkles after the river Rhine, where quartz pebbles, rock crystals with a high lead content were originally found. Folk would collect them from the shores, jewellers cutting and moulding them into little imitation diamonds. Crystal rhinestones can be found foil backed or without foil. The crystals in this ring are not foiled, which makes for easy cleaning.

The first evidence of silver mining dates back to 3000 B.C., in Turkey and Greece, according to the RSC. Ancient people even figured out how to refine silver. They heated the silver ore and blew air over it, a process called cupellation.

The term sterling silver denotes any silver alloy in which pure silver makes up at least 92.5 percent of the content. One theory is that the word sterling comes from the name Easterlings—coiners from east German states brought to England during the reign of Henry II (1154–89) to improve the quality of the coinage.
