Emerald Pleasure - Vintage 14K Gold Emerald & Diamond Marquise Cluster Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from 14k yellow and white gold, hallmarked 14k and a makers mark.  Featuring a genuine marquise shaped faceted emerald, natural round single cut diamonds, classic designing and quality gold-work.  The emerald is ported from the underside so that the light flows through the gemstone to accentuate its vibrant green colour, adding flashes of fire to the glow of the emerald.  Surrounded by two tiers of beautiful brilliant sparkling diamonds. The sides of the ring arch back from the face and taper into a smoothly polished shank. This vintage piece looks stunning when worn, truly a perfect gift or addition to any jewelry collection.

Emerald gemstones were mined in Egypt as early as 330 BC, but some estimate that the oldest emeralds are 2.97 billion years old. Cleopatra is perhaps the most famous historical figure to cherish emerald gemstones. She even claimed ownership of all emerald mines in Egypt during her reign.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
