Evergreen - Vintage 14K Gold Natural Emerald & Diamond Earrings. These lovely earrings are crafted from 14K yellow gold, hallmarked 14K, tested and confirmed. The earrings feature two natural pear shaped emeralds, 24 natural full cut diamonds, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on these earrings showcase expertly claw-set emeralds, displaying greenish/blue hues. The emeralds are semi-translucent, a medium to dark green, and displays fair intensity. The precious emeralds are surrounded by a sparkling channel-set halo of diamonds, which enhances the emeralds beautifully. History: Emerald gemstones were mined in Egypt as early as 330 BC, but some estimate that the oldest emeralds are 2.97 billion years old. Cleopatra is perhaps the most famous historical figure to cherish emerald gemstones. She even claimed ownership of all emerald mines in Egypt during her reign.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
