Evergreen - Vintage Italian 14K Gold Emerald & Diamond Necklace. This exquisite necklace is crafted from 14K yellow and white gold, hallmarked 14K, and Italy. Featuring 3 natural square cut emeralds, four natural singe cut diamonds, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. This beautifully designed necklace showcases a central 'v' shaped gallery, set with 3 vibrant bluish green emeralds, which are flanked by sparkling diamonds. The gallery is expertly attached to a fancy link chain, which has a secure lobster-claw clasp in perfect working order. This Vintage necklace is dainty, yet sturdy enough for daily wear. Emerald gemstones were mined in Egypt as early as 330 BC, but some estimate that the oldest emeralds are 2.97 billion years old. Cleopatra is perhaps the most famous historical figure to cherish emerald gemstones. She even claimed ownership of all emerald mines in Egypt during her reign.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
