French Rose - Estate Sterling Silver Pink Sapphire & Pearl Flower Cluster Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 925 SS. Featuring 8 lab created oval cut faceted pink sapphire gemstones, one genuine pearl, Victorian Revival styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery is expertly claw-set with vibrant pink sapphire gemstones, which sparkle beautifully. The centre of the cluster is set with a white pearl, and the pink sapphire surround, which resembles a pretty flower. The band is smooth and polished, which allows for easy sizing and a comfortable fit. History: The first synthetic sapphire was successfully made in 1873 by the flux method. This was followed shortly by the flame fusion method in 1902. Needless to say, at the turn of the century synthetic gemstones were quickly rising in popularity.

So precious were the spherical gems that in the 1st century BC, Julius Caesar passed a law limiting the wearing of pearls only to the ruling classes.
