Georgian 18K black enamel" forget me knot" ring. This unique and beautifully manufactured Georgian ring is made in 18K gold. The ring is comprised of a central cushion shaped panel that is collet-set with s sky blue coloured " forget me knot flower". This panel is surrounded in a sea of black enamel. The upper regions of the shank are highly decorative, exhibiting flowing twist scrolls with open work. This is a typical feature of a Georgian ring jewelry. There is an (18ct) (750) assay marking on the inside circumference of the shank which equates to the gold purity of the ring. This ring would make a very special gift or a lovely addition to your jewelry collection.
Note: Legend has it that in medieval times, a knight and his lady were walking along the side of a river. He picked a posy of flowers, but because of the weight of his amour he fell into the river. As he was drowning he thew the posy to his loved one and shouted " forget me knot" .
Note: When John Benjamin from the British Antique Roadshow was asked what his recommendation was for people to collect , his answer was Georgian rings. Here is a lovely example of one.
