Ode To Jane Austen - Georgian 18K Gold Garnet & Pearl Ring.  This lovely ring is crafted from 18K yellow gold, hallmarked 18 CT (British hallmark for 18K gold ). Featuring a natural rectangular shaped cabochon garnet, 14 natural English pearls, wonderful carving and detail , and Georgian Era styling.  I am proud to offer this exquisite ring, which was completely hand made and looks as though it came out of a Jane Austen novel.  The focal point of the precious ring houses a stunning deep red wine coloured garnet, surround by natural pearl, which exhibit a silvery grey colour with a blue/green overtones.  The gems are foiled and closed back ( a characteristic of Georgian rings) The shoulders of the ring feature deep engravings of scrolls, flowers and foliage. The back of the band is plain, which allows for a comfortable fit and makes it easy to size if desired.  This rare Georgian Era ring is truly a treasure to be cherished and enjoyed for many years to come.

Note : Rings before 1850 were completely handmade, gemstones were hand cut, only using tools to make these treasures. Machinery was not used until after 1850. 

When John Benjamin from the British Antique Roadshow was asked what his recommendation was for people to collect , his answer was Georgian rings. Here is a lovely example of one. 

This ring should not be immersed into liquid because of the closed back, and opals.  To clean, use a Q-tip and dampen it with water (not soaked) and gently wipe.  Then pat dry gently with a soft cloth.
