Pride & Prejudice - Georgian 18K Ruby & Pearl Ring. This Gorgeous ring is crafted from 18K yellow gold, hallmarked 18CT ( British Hallmark for 18K) . Featuring a natural oval cut ruby, 9 genuine natural seed pearls, Georgian styling, and quality gold-work. This delightful ring is collect -set with a central vibrant ruby , surrounded by a halo of seed pearls. The ruby has the most beautiful intense red colour and is exposed to the rings reverse side. The pearls have a lovely lustre and are white in colour with silvery grey overtones. The upper regions of the shank are bifurcated and highly ornate, displaying deep engraved scrolls and scalloped stems with open-work between. The lower region of the shank is double grooved around its perimeter. This is a common characteristic of Georgian jewelry. There is an embossed 18CT stamp marking on the inside circumference of the shank which equates to the high gold fineness of the ring. This charming Georgian ring is highly collectible, truly a perfect gift or addition to any fine jewelry collection.
Note: Appraisal included with the ring. Rings before 1850 were completely handmade, gemstones were hand cut, only using tools to make these treasures. Machinery was not used until after 1850.
When John Benjamin from the British Antique Roadshow was asked what his recommendation was for people to collect , his answer was Georgian rings. Here is a lovely example of one.
