Girl With The Pearl Ring - Vintage 10K Gold Japanese Akoya Cultured Pearl Ring. This exquisite ring is crafted from 10K yellow gold, hallmarked 10K and a makers mark.  Featuring 3 genuine Japanese akoya cultured sea pearls, vintage era styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring showcases a row of expertly claw-set lustrous white pearls, displaying silvery/pinkish overtones. The gallery is made up of solid claws, so the setting houses the pearls securely.  The shoulders have a slight taper, which leads down to a smooth and polished shank. This allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. The gorgeous Vintage era ring is delicate, however is it substantial and sturdy, truly a wonderful piece to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come.

Comments: Beautiful lustre to the vintage pearls.

History: Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2300 BC, while in ancient Rome, pearl jewellery was considered the ultimate status symbol. So precious were the spherical gems that in the 1st century BC, Julius Caesar passed a law limiting the wearing of pearls only to the ruling classes.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
