Aphrodite: The Deposition of a Goddess - Vintage 10k Carnelian cameo ring. This lovely ring is crafted from 10K solid gold, hallmarked 10K. The hand-carved cameo gemstone is collet-set into the ring with a fine decorative surround. The gemstone is framed by a twisted gold decoration and the the upper regions of the shank are bifurcated with open-work between, leading down to a smooth and polished shank allowing the ring to be comfortable to wear. The carnelian gemstone features a gorgeous warm peachy orange colour with a graceful ivory 'Aphrodite Goddess' wearing a draped dress and pulled up hair. The beautiful Victorian Revival piece looks stunning when worn, truly a perfect gift or wonderful addition to any jewelry collection.

Note: Aphrodite was the goddess of love, beauty and fertility. She was also a protectress of sailers. The poet Hesiod said that Aphrodite was born from seafood. Homer , on the other hand said she was the daughter of Zeus and Dione.
