The chain is crafted from 14K white gold, hallmarked 14K, Italy. Featuring one natural square shaped Columbian emerald, 14 natural round brilliant diamonds, classic vintage styling, and high quality craftsmanship. This luscious pendant is expertly claw-set with a beautiful Columbian emerald, which displays a greenish/blue hue (a characteristic of Columbian emeralds). History: Emerald gemstones were mined in Egypt as early as 330 BC, but some estimate that the oldest emeralds are 2.97 billion years old. Cleopatra is perhaps the most famous historical figure to cherish emerald gemstones. She even claimed ownership of all emerald mines in Egypt during her reign.

Diamonds: The Silk Road Diamonds were first discovered in India and have been traded within since as early as 6th Century BC. Until the discovery of diamonds in 18th Century Brazil, and 19th Century Africa,  India was known to be the sole source of diamonds worldwide.

Although the modern history of platinum only begins in the 18th century, platinum has been found in objects dating from 700 BC, in particular the famous Casket of Thebes (see image). ... The Spanish called this metal Platina, a diminutive of Plata, the Spanish word for silver.

Although the origin of white color gold dates back to 1710, where it was discovered by two alchemists in Germany, it wasn't used widely until much later. White gold as we know it today was really popularised in the 1920s. Although it might seem strange, this luxury material came to popularity in wartime.
