Illr Auga - Ancient Viking 8th - 11th Century Bronze Ring. This wonderful ring is crafted from bronze. Featuring a fantastic Ancient design, and quality bronze work. The face of this ring is square in shape, with beautiful etchings representing "Illr Auga" meaning "Evil Eye". The evil eye dates back to 5th-4th Century BC Greece, Classical Antiquity. This ring also features beautiful sculpted shoulders, leading down to a smooth simple substantial, which allows for a comfortable fit. This rare artifact looks fabulous when worn, truly a unique gift or perfect addition to any early collection.
Note: Belief in the evil eye dates back to Classical antiquity. It is referenced by Hesoid, Callimachus, Plato, Diodorus, Siculus, Plutarch, Heliodorus. Pliny the Elder, and Aulus Gellius. Peter Walcot's Envy and the Greeks, listed more than one hundred works by these and other authors mentioning the evil eye. This Ancient Viking era artifact is a wonderful example of an evil eye specimen to be worn, and treasured for many years to come.
