Indigo Jewel - Vintage 14K Gold Natural Blue Sapphire Pendant & Chain. This vintage pendant is crafted from 14K yellow gold, hallmarked 14K. The chain is also crafted in 14K yellow gold, hallmarked 14K.  The pendant features one natural oval cut faceted blue sapphire, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this pendant is expertly claw-set with a beautiful indigo blue sapphire, displaying bluish/greenish hues. The basket setting is substantial, as is the bale. The chain is a pretty rope chain with a secure spring ring clasp, in perfect working order. The vintage pendant is versatile, therefore it can be worn day or night, with anything and everything!

History: The celestial blue color of this gemstone symbolized heaven and attracted divine favor and wise judgment. Greeks wore sapphire for guidance when seeking answers from the oracle. Buddhists believed that it brought spiritual enlightenment, and Hindus used it during worship.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
