Jewel Of Envy - Vintage 14K Gold Natural Emerald & Diamond Pendant & Chain. This lovely pendant is crafted from 14K yellow gold, hallmarked 14K, tested and confirmed. The chain is crafted from 14K yellow gold, hallmarked 14K, tested, and confirmed. The pendant features one natural pear shaped emerald, 3 natural round brilliant cut diamonds, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this pendant showcases an expertly claw-set beautiful emerald, displaying greenish/bluish hues (a characteristic seen in Columbian emeralds). The emerald is translucent, a medium to dark green, and displays good intensity. The precious emerald is crowned by sparkling clear diamonds, which enhances the emerald beautifully. The bale is a split design, and is solid and substantial enough to support the pendant. The chain is a fancy rope link, featuring a secure spring ring clasp, in perfect working order. This vintage pendant is classic and versatile, and would compliment any wardrobe

Comments: This pendant is small, yet mighty. Dainty in scale, however the piece  showcases a beautiful vibrant green emerald.

Note: Appraisal included with the pendant & chain. The pendant and chain are appraised at $3400.00 (Tax Excluded)

History: Emerald gemstones were mined in Egypt as early as 330 BC, but some estimate that the oldest emeralds are 2.97 billion years old. Cleopatra is perhaps the most famous historical figure to cherish emerald gemstones. She even claimed ownership of all emerald mines in Egypt during her reign.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
