Knight In Shining Armour - Renaissance 17th -18th Century Bronze Engraved Signet Seal Ring. This fantastic ring is crafted from bronze, featuring ancient styling, and exquisite engravings. This wonderful ring displays a beautiful engraving of a knight on a horse, which is etched on a octagon shaped bezel. The bezel also showcases an engraved border, which frames the bezel perfectly. The bezel is filled in the back, and the ring is solid and in fine condition with a stunning bronze patina. The Renaissance era ring would make a unique addition to any antiquity collection.

The Renaissance was a fervent period of European cultural, artistic, political and economic “rebirth” following the Middle Ages. Generally described as taking place from the 14th century to the 17th century, the Renaissance promoted the rediscovery of classical philosophy, literature and art.

The Renaissance period was fascinated with the Medieval era, especially knights and chivalry.

Around 3500 BC the first signs of bronze usage by the ancient Sumerians started to appear in the Tigris Euphrates valley in Western Asia. One theory suggests that bronze may have been discovered when copper and tin-rich rocks were used to build campfire rings.
