This stunning ring is crafted from 18K gold, hallmarked 18K.  Featuring one natural oval cut faceted Tanzanite, 81 natural round brilliant diamonds, Retro styling, and quality craftsmanship.  The gallery is expertly set with a beautiful vibrant sparkling violet blue tanzanite, which is surrounded by a swirl of sparkling diamonds. The swirl carries though to the shoulders of the ring, leading down to a polished smooth band, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. The common story of tanzanite's discovery tells of Maasai herders who found blue crystals in the Merelani Hills near Arusha, Tanzania, while tending livestock in 1967. They notified a prospector named Manuel d'Souza, who promptly registered claims with the government to begin mining.

According to a Tanzanian geologist, the circumstances that led to its formation 585 million years ago were so exceptional that the likelihood of finding tanzanite anywhere else on earth is one in a million, making it a thousand times rarer than diamonds.

Tanzanite is only found in Tanzania, in a very small mining area (approximately 7 km (4.3 mi) long and 2 km (1.2 mi) wide) near the Mererani Hills. Tanzanite is noted for its remarkably strong trichroism, appearing alternately blue, violet and burgundy depending on crystal orientation.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.
