This lovely cross is crafted from sterling silver, and 12K rose gold wash (gold plate, hallmarked 925 sterling silver. Featuring 11 natural round cut garnets. Victorian styling, and quality workmanship. This beautiful cross has a simple design, however the deep red wine Bohemian garnets make it anything but. They are expertly claw set and change colour from a deep red to an orange fire red. The chain is adjustable and is original to the piece. This Vintage Victorian Revival cross would make a perfect gift or wonderful addition to any jewelry collection.

The history of garnet dates back to the Bronze Age, more than 5000 years ago. ... Its name, which has been used since these ancient times, was derived from the Latin word granatium, which means pomegranate (because the small, red crystals were thought to resemble pomegranate seeds).

The word “Bohemian” derives from the region of Bohemia, a kingdom which later became Czechoslovakia. Among other flourishing trades, this region produced gorgeous, deep red garnet gemstones and a style of jewelry that quickly became popular in the late Victorian Era and through the turn of the century.
