Lovers Knot In Cerise - Georgian Circa 1690 15K Gold & Silver Stuart Crystal Ring. This rare ring is crafted from 15k Gold, tested and confirmed. Featuring an octagon shaped Stuart crystal (rock crystal), Georgian styling and quality gold-work. The focus of this ring is the exquisite start crystal, which made of a rock crystal gem. This particular gem has a beautiful shape and faceted with perfect cerise foiling and a gold thread knotted border. The central portion features a wonderful lovers knot as appose to a monogram, which mostly likely supports the fact that this ring was used as a betrothal ring. The entire gem is set in silver (a characteristic of Georgian rings) since white gold was not yet invented. The entire band is fluted (also a characteristic of Georgian rings) and the colour of the gold is a gentle rose gold. The foiling on this crystal is bright and in pristine condition. This stunning Georgian era ring looks stunning when worn, so rare , so beautiful and quite simply timeless.
Note: Stuart Crystals started off as mourning jewels protesting the execution of King Charles I (of the House of Stuart) in 1649. ... The style continued until about 1735 when tastes shifted to other styles of mourning jewelry. The bright rock crystal stone flashes pink from foil underneath.
