Magnificent Post-Medieval 18th-19th century silver & jewel cross pendant. This wonderful cross is hand crafted from German silver (unmarked) , tests 800 for European silver. This majestic piece features beautiful silver work and a red ruby paste gemstone set in the centre of the cross. Featuring an expertly set ruby cabochon gem stone, surrounded by silver detail, with hand hammering, and stunning chasing and stamping at the ends of the cross. The breathtaking piece has a beautiful shape and is large in scale, the aged patina is gorgeous and desirable. The cross has been matched up to a contemporary foxtail sterling silver chain, which works very well with the piece. The chain has a very secure lobster clasp, in perfect working order, hallmarked 925 for sterling silver. This impressive artifact would make a perfect gift or wonderful addition to any early jewelry collection. Truly a very special piece of history to be enjoyed and treasured for many years to come.
