Mansfield Park - Georgian 15K Rose Gold Garnet & Natural Pearl Ring. This Gorgeous ring is crafted from 15K rose gold, hallmarked 15CT ( British Hallmark for 15K) . Featuring a natural square cut hessonite garnet , 10 natural seed pearls, Georgian styling, and quality gold-work. This delightful ring is collect -set with a garnet, surrounded by seed pearls. The garnet has the most beautiful rich cognac colour and is closed back to the rings reverse side. The pearls have a lovely lustre and are silvery grey in colour. The upper regions of the shank are highly decorative, a split shank with a twisted loop open-work deign. The mid-lower region of the shank is double grooved, all typical features of Georgian ring jewelry. There is an embossed 15CT stamp marking on the inside circumference of the shank which equates to the high gold fineness of the ring. This charming Georgian ring is highly collectible, truly a perfect gift or addition to any fine jewelry collection.
Note: Rings before 1850 were completely handmade, gemstones were hand cut, only using tools to make these treasures. Machinery was not used until after 1850.
Value is based on rarity, condition, age, workmanship, and the beauty of the ring. Contemporary appraisals do not reflect the antiquity value.
When John Benjamin from the British Antique Roadshow was asked what his recommendation was for people to collect, his answer was Georgian rings. Here is a lovely example of one.
Hessonite garnets comes chiefly from Sri Lanka and India, where it is found generally in placer deposits (an accumulation of valuable minerals formed by gravity separation from specific source rock during sedimentary processes) through its occurrence in its native matrix is not unknown. It is also found in Brazil and California.
This ring should not be immersed into liquid because of the closed back, and opals. To clean, use a Q-tip and dampen it with water (not soaked) and gently wipe. Then pat dry gently with a soft cloth.
