Marquise Sparkler - Vintage Silver Plate Crystal Cluster Ring. This pretty ring is crafted from silver plate over metal., and a makers mark NV. The ring features one marquise cut faceted crystal, numerous round cut faceted crystals, and classic vintage styling. The gallery on this ring is claw-set with a beautiful garnet coloured marquise shaped crystal, and a clear crystal gemstone surround. The shoulders are decorative, which leads down to a smooth and polished shank, which allows for a comfortable fit. This fun vintage ring, is a perfect addition to any costume jewelry collection.
History: The term Rhinestone was given to the little sparkles after the river Rhine, where quartz pebbles, rock crystals with a high lead content were originally found. Folk would collect them from the shores, jewellers cutting and moulding them into little imitation diamonds.
In 1883, Daniel formed a jewelry company and by 1886, they had over 70 employees, and supplied jewelry for Queen Victoria. In 1891, Daniel registered a patent for the crystal cutting machine that he created and in 1895, moved from Bohemia to Wattens, Austria to begin crystal production.
