Mediterranean Seas - Vintage 9K Gold Natural Turquoise Ring. This lovely ring is crafted from 9K yellow gold, hallmarked 375 (British Hallmark) for 9K, a makers mark,  a London Assay, and a letter date for 1989. Featuring one natural oval cut cabochon turquoise gem, classic styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gorgeous ring is expertly bezel set with a beautiful blue turquoise, displaying a natural matrix. The bezel is polished, and framed with a delicate twisted border design. The shoulders have split design, which leads down to a polished and smooth shank. The Vintage ring  has an ancient feel, which resembles some of Etruscan and Roman antiquities. The precious ring is dainty, displays exquisite detail, and is oh so pretty!

History: The earliest evidence of turquoise gemstones comes from ancient Egyptian tombs, which contain elaborate turquoise jewelry dating back to 3000 BCE. Egyptians set turquoise in gold necklaces and rings, used it as inlay, and carved it into scarabs.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
