Mello Yellow - Vintage Sterling Silver Natural Baltic Butterscotch Amber Ring.  This gorgeous ring is crafted from 925 sterling silver, hallmarked with a European 925 hallmark.  Featuring a genuine Baltic amber cabochon gem, Art Nouveau styling, and quality craftsmanship.  This is an extremely fine and genuine natural Vintage sterling silver Baltic butterscotch amber ring. It features a beautiful bezel - set butterscotch amber with an ornate repousse mounting. With a simple elegant oval shaped amber in an open-worked design. This amber ring really glistens and sparkles in the light, and displays a beautiful desirable egg yolk golden colour.  The gallery is decorated beautifully with carved silver that has a floral and leafy pattern. The piece reflects a wonderful natural feel, a characteristic often seen in Art Nouveau jewelry. The shank is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit.  The Vintage ring is a wonderful statement piece encompassing rare butterscotch amber and exquisite detail. Fabulous find!

Note: The Butterscotch Amber has been tested and conformed to be natural Butterscotch amber by a graduate gemologist.

Formed over 45 million years ago, Baltic Amber is an organic substance, a "Fossil Resin" produced by pine trees which grew in Northern Europe - from southern regions of the present day Scandinavia and nearby regions of the bed of the Baltic Sea. The climate became warmer and trees started to exude big amounts of Resin.

Butterscotch Amber is a completely natural form of Baltic Amber. It is simply of a rarer kind than it's renown Cognac twin, as a happy result of nature's cunning beauty. The exact shade of Butterscotch Amber, like a fine wine, is known to develop and change with time.

Silver's history is long. The first evidence of silver mining dates back to 3000 B.C., in Turkey and Greece, according to the RSC. Ancient people even figured out how to refine silver. They heated the silver ore and blew air over it, a process called cupellation.
