Momento Mori - Georgian 18th -19th Century Sterling Silver Skull Ring. This scarce ring is crafted from sterling silver, tested. Featuring Georgian stying, wonderful engravings and quality silver-work. This intriguing piece is solid throughout, including the back of the face of the ring. The face of the ring has fantastic deeply engraved detail of a skull and the words "Momento Mori". The shoulders of the ring are also engraved with age appropriate wear. The shank is substantial and smooth , which allows for a comfortable fit. The ring has a beautiful aged silver patina, it is recommended that the ring is not polished to keep the integrity and antiquity of the rare piece.
Note: Memento mori is a Latin phrase that translates to “remember you must die.” A memento mori is something, historically a skull, that serves as a reminder of death and mortality.
This particular example most likely would have been owned by a Military Officer.
Artifacts and items of antiquity are luxury items, which can be worn with care. To clean just wipe off gently with damp cloth (water only) and pat dry with soft dry cloth.
