Mona Lisa's Smile - Vintage 10K Marquise Diamond Ring. This lovely ring is crafted from 10K yellow and white gold, and a makers mark SCD. Featuring 17 natural round brilliant diamonds, a lovely vintage design, and quality gold-work. The central portion of this ring is a marquise shaped yellow gold panel, expertly claw set with 3 sparkling diamonds on a row. Surrounding the 3 diamonds is a beautiful halo of sparkling diamonds, which are set in white gold. The combination of the yellow and white gold, is quite simply stunning. The pierced gallery and band is crafted in yellow gold. The shank is polished and smooth, which allows for a comfortable fit. This unique ring looks stunning when worn, truly a piece to make that special someone smile. Just gorgeous!

History: Developed in France in the 1740s , legend has it that it was named for the Marquise de Pompadour, a mistress of the King Louis XV, because the outline resembles the shape of her mouth. The marquise diamond is also called a navette ( Old French for "little ship").
