This ring is comprised an expertly claw-set colour change moonstone, which is surrounded by an ornate scalloped gallery. The gallery is adorned by sparkling crystals , adding contrast to the beautiful opaque gemstone. The shoulders are decorated, whilst the shank is smooth, and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit , and easy sizing. This vintage era ring would make a wonderful gift or addition to any vintage jewelry collection.

History: Mood rings were invented in 1975 by New York inventors Joshua Reynolds and Maris Ambits, who were inspired by the colour changing properties of thermochromic liquid crystals to create a piece of jewelry that would change color with the wearer's body temperature. They became a major fashion fad in the late 1970s due to their playful link to emotions and their appeal in an era focused on individualism. While not scientifically accurate for determining emotions, they work because emotions cause changes in body temperature, which in turn affects the liquid crystals.

Originally, rhinestones were rock crystals gathered from the river Rhine, hence the name, although some were also found in areas like the Alps (the source of the Rhine). Today the name "rhinestone" applies only to varieties of lead glass known as crystal glass.

Silver was discovered after gold and copper about 4000 bce, when it was used in jewelry and as a medium of exchange. The earliest known workings of significant size were those of the pre-Hittites of Cappadocia in eastern Anatolia.

The term "sterling silver" probably originated in eastern Germany when five towns formed the Hanseatic League in the 1100s. These town minted their own coins of 92.5 percent silver. When Britain sold cattle and grain to the League, they were paid in "Easterling coins".
