Nature's Luxury - Vintage 14K Gold Genuine Akoya Pearl Earrings.  These lovely earrings are crafted from 14K yellow gold, hallmarked 14K.  Featuring 2 genuine round cultured Akoya pearls,  classic styling and quality gold-work.  These earrings feature a secure french lever back surmount for pierced ears.  The pearls are suspended from a decorative cap, which allows for nice movement. The pearls are white, with a slight pink overtone.  They are lustrous and high quality.  The Vintage beauties are very versatile and can be worn with everything.  Truly a perfect gift or addition to any fine jewelry collection.

Note: Pearls were presented as gifts to Chinese royalty as early as 2300 BC, while in ancient Rome, pearl jewellery was considered the ultimate status symbol. ... According to legend, Cleopatra crushed a pearl into a glass of wine to prove to Marc Antony that she could give the most expensive dinner in history.

The akoya pearl is a saltwater cultured pearl from the akoya oyster (Pinctada fucata martensii). Because akoya are the most abundant type of saltwater pearl with the longest cultured history, information on akoyas is abundant!
