Note: Bates & Bacon jewelry manufacturing company( Attleboro, Massachusetts) was a very well known company for their high quality gold filled pocket watch cases as well as gold filled lockets, pocket watch chains, and jewelry. Joseph M. Bates entered into a partnership with George M. Bacon in Attleboro, MA in 1868. The Great Attleboro Fire of 1898 destroyed their factory along with many other prominent jewelry manufacturing companies in a 4 mile radius. A new building went up quickly, being ready for occupancy by August. B&B's Chicago manager was able to boast about the new factory, modern machinery and expected continuation of a good business for the following year. This gorgeous necklace is a fine example of what B&B would have created during the Art Deco era.
