Born and raised in South Vietnam, in a sea-side town called Nha Trang , Chan had a passion for designing at a very young age. She recalls gathering seashells from along the shore and spending hours handcrafting one-of-a-kind pieces of jewellery for herself and friends.

After completing her Bachelor's Degree in business from Boston University, Chan knew she had to follow her passion becoming a fashion designer. Chan picked up and moved to Los Angeles, California to study fashion design.

In 1996, Chan established her brand under her namesake with a vision of quality design that is inspired by various cultures from around the world. Chan believed that the uniqueness and authenticity of her designs could only be conveyed by having skilled artisans make each of her piece by hand. Chan made a promise to herself and her customers that each design within ever collection would be completely handcrafted.

Note: Beaded jewellery dates as far back as 3100 B.C. , this piece has Native American influence.
