Post Medieval 16th -18th century blue stone ring. This wonderful ring is made of bronze, the bronze has a wonderful aged patina. In the centre sits a lovely sky blue glass gemstone. The gem is bezel set . The bezel has a lovely bronze work crimping detail on the bottom of the bezel. The shield shaped ring is very well preserved and can be worn with care. The ring can not be sized , however it can be made smaller with a adjustable insert from a jeweler. These bronze rings originally would have had gold gilt . Sometimes rings are found with traces of this gilt on them. However, age and excavated pieces lose much of it's original gilt , if we are lucky , a ring can be found with the most beautiful bronze patina that only time and well preservation can give us. This ring has that feature. This piece would make a wonderful addition to any early jewel collection.
