Night Magic - Vintage Sterling Silver Diamond Rivière Necklace.  This extraordinary necklace is crafted from 925 sterling silver, hallmarked 925 for sterling.  Featuring 65 faceted and rose cut diamonds, Georgian/Victorian styling and quality silver work.  This antique revival hand-made necklace is known as a Rivière design. Delicate silver bezels house diamonds throughout the entire necklace.  The settings are closed back, a characteristic of Georgian and early Victorian jewelry , which allows the diamonds to reflect the foiling , which in turn reflects back to the diamond. The silver has a beautiful aged patina throughout and a gold wash on the back of the settings.  The clasp is a slide style and the security clip locks it into place.  The Vintage necklace looks absolutely stunning when worn, a very special and unique piece for any fine jewelry collection.

Note: Appraisal included with the necklace.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

This hand -made necklace is made in  manner of antique jewelry.  White gold was not invented so silver was used to set off the gemstones. This piece is made in a similar way to those antique pieces.

Cleaning:  Do not immerse in liquid.   To clean gently wipe with soft damp cloth (not saturated) with water only. Pat dry immediately with soft dry cloth.

A Rivière necklace is a necklace of gems that increase in size toward a large central stone, typically consisting of more than one string.

The diamonds in this necklace are cut in a very similar way to the early diamonds found in Renaissance and Georgian jewelry : TABLE CUT DIAMONDS. A table cut diamond is so named for the simple fact that the top is flat, like an ordinary table. Each of the four sides has a simple facet ...

History of Rose Cut Diamonds The rose cut originated in the 1500's and was commonly used through the Georgian and Victorian eras. Like other antique diamond cuts, they were cut by hand and meant to dazzle under candlelight. Their large, wide facets performed exquisitely in low light conditions.

With anywhere from 3 to 24 facets, a Rose Cut Diamond resembles the shape of a rose bud. ... In general, they are flat at the bottom and creating a larger surface area for the stone's brilliance. One of the most striking characteristics of a Rose Cut Diamond is it's flat base.
