Night Of Intrigue - Estate Sterling Silver Black Agate Filigree Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked 925 for sterling. Featuring an emerald cut natural genuine black agate, exquisite filigree work and Art Deco Styling. The expertly claw set black agate is jet black in colour, opaque and shiny. The beautiful gem is surrounded by a bezel of engraved flowers and a filigree gallery. The shoulders are beautifully engraved, leading down to a smooth polished shank which allows for a comfortable fit. History: Agate derives its name from a river in Sicily, which the Greeks called Achates. Vast quantities of agate were discovered in this river as early as 300 B.C. During the reign of Julius Caesar, while engaged in the Gallic Wars, deposits of agate were discovered along the Nahe River in Germany.
