On This Day In 1906 - Edwardian 18K Gold Diamond & Sapphire Ring.  This fantastic ring is crafted from 18K yellow gold , hallmarked 18 for 18K, Full London assay and dated 1906 (letter assay).  Featuring 2 natural antique cut sapphires, 3 natural Old Mine cut diamonds, Edwardian styling and quality gold-work. The exquisite ring houses expertly claw-set interspaced vibrant blue sapphires and glowing diamonds.  The combination of the blue sapphire and diamond is so attractive and classic.  The shoulders have delicate detailing, leading down to a smooth and polished band, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing.  This Edwardian era ring looks beautiful on the hand, a wonderful early ring in pristine condition.  So elegant and quite simply stunning!

Before this time in antiquity clients did not care about diamond grading. It was based more so on the size of the diamonds ( according to budget) , style, and sentiment.
