On This Day In 1923 - Art Deco English 9K Rose Gold Gents Wedding Band. This wonderful ring is crafted from 9K Rose Gold, hallmarked 375 for 9ct British gold, Birmingham assay, a letter date for 1923, and a makers mark ACC. This wedding band is made in the Tiffany style (rounded edge), and displays a beautiful rich rose gold color. This Art Deco era band would make a very special wedding band for that someone special.
History: Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
Rose gold was first used in early 19th century Russia by the famed jeweler Carl Faberge in his famous Faberge Eggs, as was known as Russian Gold. Rose gold later gained popularity in the United States during the lavish and feminine 1920's, and was worn in engagement rings and fine jewelry.
The first wedding rings can be traced back to the Ancient Egyptians when they exchanged rings made from braided reeds and hemp. They placed these rings on the fourth finger of the left-hand as they believed that there was a 'vein of love' that ran from this finger directly to your heart.
