Opalescent Halo - Estate English 9K Gold Opal Cluster Ring. This unique ring is crafted from 9K yellow gold, hallmarked 375 (British Hallmark for 9K gold), and a London assay. Featuring one natural oval cut cabochon opal, 14 natural round cut cabochon opals, classic styling, and quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring is expertly claw-set with a central white opal, and a beautiful opalescent opal halo. The opals emanate a range of bright vibrant colors under interchangeable light intensities. The shoulders have a slight taper, which reach up to the top of the gallery. The band is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. This lovely Estate ring is unique,in the fact, that the entire gallery is set with opals. It is dainty, yet so eye-catching. A very pretty ring.
Many cultures have credited opal with supernatural origins and powers. Arabic legends say it falls from the heavens in flashes of lightning. The ancient Greeks believed opals gave their owners the gift of prophecy and guarded them from disease. Europeans have long considered the gem a symbol of hope, purity, and truth.
Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
