Petals Of Perfection - Art Deco 18K Platinum Diamond Ring. This precious ring is crafted from 18K and platinum, hallmarked 18CT and PLAT. Featuring one natural round brilliant cut diamond, eight natural single cut diamonds, Art Deco era styling and detail, and quality gold and platinum work. The design of this ring is a beautiful flower , set in platinum are white bright sparkling diamonds. The gallery is a coronet style which sets off the diamonds beautifully. Art Deco jewelry of the late 1920s and 1930s is both unique to the Art Deco design aesthetic and unique to the time period in which it was created. As a result, each surviving creation is a piece of art history, design history and social history, all wrapped up in diamonds, gemstones and precious metals.Platinum was the metal of choice during the Art Deco period.
The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.
In 1953, GIA formally created its diamond grading system, known as the 4 C's. The 4 Cs of diamond quality are the universally recognized diamond grading system still in use today. In 1955, GIA presented its first diamond grading reports, which became the hallmark of grading reports in the diamond industry. Therefore antique cut diamonds are looked at differently, since diamond grading was not created until 1953.
The metal was used by pre-Columbian Indians but platinum was "rediscovered" in South America by Ulloa in 1735 and by Wood in 1741.
