History: The morganite was first discovered in Madagascar in 1911 and was initially called "Pink Beryl". However, the famous gemmologist George Frederick Kunz renamed it "Morganite" in honour of his patron, New York banker and philanthropist John Pierpont Morgan.
The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.
Pink sapphires have become more available since new deposits were found in Madagascar in the late 1990s. Until that time, pink sapphires were considered exceptionally rare since they were only found in a few locations around the world, the most popular locations being Sri Lanka, Myanmar and East Africa.
Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
Rose gold is by definition a yellow gold and copper alloy, with yellow gold being the dominant component. This alloy was originally known as “Russian Gold”, because it didn't gain popularity until the 19th century in Russia, where it became highly fashionable amongst the aristocracy.
