Pretty In Pink - Vintage 14K Gold Natural Ceylon Pink Sapphire & diamond Ring. This gorgeous ring is crafted from 14K yellow and white gold, tested and confirmed. Featuring one natural oval cut faceted pink sapphire, 4 natural round brilliant diamonds, classic styling, and quality craftsmanship. This exquisite ring showcases a beautiful pink sapphire, displaying a purplish/pink hue. The pink sapphire most definitely takes centre stage, and is adorned by two sparkling diamonds on each side of the precious gem. The gemstones are set in white gold, and the band is rendered in yellow gold. The shank is smooth and polished, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing. It was difficult to capture in photographs this ring's true beauty, in person it sparkles amazingly and is simply stunning!

Note: Appraisal included the ring.

Comments: Beautiful Pink sapphire. This ring would make a wonderful unique engagement ring.

History: Origin. Pink sapphires have become more available since new deposits were found in Madagascar in the late 1990s. Until that time, pink sapphires were considered exceptionally rare since they were only found in a few locations around the world, the most popular locations being Sri Lanka, Myanmar and East Africa.

The pink sapphire symbolises love, truth and feminine power. Thanks to their durability, meaning and delicate colour, pink sapphires are perfect for engagement rings.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.

Although the origin of white color gold dates back to 1710, where it was discovered by two alchemists in Germany, it wasn't used widely until much later. White gold as we know it today was really popularised in the 1920s. Although it might seem strange, this luxury material came to popularity in wartime.
