Autumn Hues - Vintage Gold Plated Crystal Rhinestone Bracelet. This gorgeous bracelet is crafted from gold plate over metal. The bracelet features numerous square cut faceted crystal rhinestones, vintage styling, and quality craftsmanship. This bracelet is comprised of gold plated links, which are hand-set with beautiful plum, lavender, and garnet-red coloured crystals. The links are connected in such a way that allows the bracelet to be flexible, which makes for a comfortable fit for the wearer. The bracelet has a hidden clasp, which is in perfect working order. The vintage era bracelet would make a wonderful addition to any vintage costume jewelry collection. 

History: Originally, rhinestones were rock crystals gathered from the river Rhine, hence the name, although some were also found in areas like the Alps (the source of the Rhine). Today the name "rhinestone" applies only to varieties of lead glass known as crystal glass.

The technology behind gold plated jewelry is credited to Italian chemist Luigi Brugnatelli. In 1805, he discovered the process for electroplating. It was quickly adopted for jewelry styles, with many Victorian jewelry pieces using gold plating.
