Renaissance 16th-17th century enamel cross pendant. This amazing cross is crafted from bronze, featuring beautiful enamel work and bronze detail. The cross has a very attractive bold shape, with lovely raised detail and cobalt blue and traces of white enamel work. The contrast between the blue and white is stunning, with the gorgeous bronze patina showing through. The back of the cross still displays much of its scripture, most likely written in Latin. The bale on the cross is original and detailed, however an addition contemporary ring and bale has been added for preservation and movement of the pendant and chain. Matched up to a contemporary bronze chain and bale, working beautifully with the cross. This wonderful early piece would make a perfect gift or addition to any jewelry collection.
