Rivulets Of Light - Vintage Platinum Ceylon Blue/Violet Sapphire & Diamond Cluster Ring. This exquisite ring is crafted from platinum, hallmarked 850 platinum. Featuring a natural oval cut faceted blue/violet sapphire, 12 natural round brilliant diamonds, classic styling, and high quality craftsmanship. The gallery on this ring is set with a beautiful Ceylon blue/violet sapphire, which looks more blue in certain light intensities, and more violet in others. The precious sapphire has a sparkling diamond surround, which enhances the sapphire perfectly. The shoulders exhibit a split style tapered design, which leads down to a polished and smooth shank, which allows for a comfortable fit, and easy sizing. This Vintage ring is in the Princess Diana's (engagement ring) style, and looks stunning when worn.

According to historical accounts, Ceylon was already known for sapphires by the 2nd century A.D. and there was an active international trade in Ceylon gems by the 4th and 5th century. Its sapphires come in a wide variety of colours and is known for producing the largest stones in the world.

In ancient Greece and Rome, kings and queens were convinced that blue sapphires protected their owners from envy and harm. ... During the Middle Ages, the clergy wore blue sapphires to symbolize Heaven, and ordinary folks thought the gem attracted heavenly blessings.
