Scarlet Jewel - Vintage 18K Gold Natural Ruby & Diamond Bespoke Ring. This hand-made ring is crafted from 18K yellow gold, hallmarked 18K. The ring features one natural oval cut faceted natural ruby, 14 natural round brilliant cut diamonds, classic styling, and quality craftsmanship.  This gallery is expertly claw-set with a beautiful deep red ruby, and a sparking diamond surround. The shoulders of this ring are also adorned by diamonds, leading down to a polished and smooth band, which allows for a comfortable fit and easy sizing.  This vintage ring is an investment piece that will not only increase in value, but will also bring you many years of enjoyment. Rubies have been particularly prized in Asian countries. Records suggest that rubies were traded along China's North Silk Road as early as 200 BC. Chinese noblemen adorned their armor with rubies because they believed the gem would grant protection. Burma has been a significant ruby source since at least 600 AD.

The earliest diamonds were found in India in 4th century BC, although the youngest of these deposits were formed 900 million years ago. A majority of these early stones were transported along the network of trade routes that connected India and China, commonly known as the Silk Road.

Gold was generally used for a couple thousand years solely to create things such as jewelry and idols for worship. This was until around 1500 BC when the ancient empire of Egypt, which benefited greatly from its gold-bearing region, Nubia, made gold the first official medium of exchange for international trade.
